Fat since birth...What to do?

Fitness Question: I have been fat since childhood. Where does the "there has to be an external reason" come into play here? I have been trying to analyze this for the last 42 years...I am at such a loss for knowing what my next turn is...aerobics, no aerobics, it's in my head, it's not in my head, it's my attitude, it's not my attitude...you know what I mean!! I have 150 lbs to lose and have so much diet garble in my head, I have no idea where to begin. I have cut calories (only) to 500 on protein drinks for a year and lost weight to only see it all rush back plus almost double...not from ice cream either. Weight watchers, I might as well call it Weight Gainers...ugh...I am an intelligent, tenacious woman and will not stop looking for a process until I find one that is healthy and produces real results...Can you please give me honest, advice on losing the fat...thank you.

Answer: The honest advice is that it is attitude and the need to buy and cook real food. All you’ve ever known your whole life as YOU say is that you’ve been fat. It’s very familiar to you. You have told me that you lost weight (not necessarily fat by the way) when you did protein drink diets and cut your calories way down. Well you lost too much muscle and that just happens to be your furnace that uses a fuel called fat. Going back to what I said about buying and cooking real food. No one these days ever cooks their own food it’s insane. Everyone that’s fat want someone else to do the work; Jenny Craig, Weight Watchers, etc. or they want the vitamin supplement companies to make a magical pill to help them burn fat. Give me a break! We need to get you to build muscle to a respectable level in order to help your body burn fat. Let’s start with gaining at least 5 lbs of muscle. If you gain 5lbs of muscle you will expend 350 calories doing absolutely nothing. If you do the math and know that 3500 calories equal a pound of fat then every ten days you could lose 1 lb. Divide 10 into 365days and just by adding 5lbs of muscle you will lose 36.5 pounds of body fat. Let me explain a little of your history to you. You’ve gone on so many diets which has created a yo-yo effect in your body and when you lose weight you also lose muscle along with it. When you lose that muscle the weight you gain back is almost always fat. I’m not in Detroit so I can’t do a body fat ratio test on you but if you can get one from a local fitness professional it will be very helpful to gauge your progress. Portion control is just as important as a training program. If you’re eating real food in the proper portions it is virtually impossible to gain weight. All your portions of concentrated food (meat, pasta, bread, nuts) and high water content food (vegetables & fruits) should not be larger than the top of your hand when you make a fist. Everyone is different and has different size hands and usually it is proportionate to the size of their body. So to sum this up: Gain Muscle, cook and eat real food, and use portion control. Do not go on any more diets and keep that tenacious attitude.

Buy and cook real foods?? That is your answer? I'm not even going to waste any more time than I am right now in saying this: That was the most worthless piece of advice I have seen in a long time. Your explanation lacked important details that would be vital to any real success. It also made me think you have no clue as to what you are talking about.
