Fat since birth...What to do?

Fitness Question: I have been fat since childhood. Where does the "there has to be an external reason" come into play here? I have been trying to analyze this for the last 42 years...I am at such a loss for knowing what my next turn is...aerobics, no aerobics, it's in my head, it's not in my head, it's my attitude, it's not my attitude...you know what I mean!! I have 150 lbs to lose and have so much diet garble in my head, I have no idea where to begin. I have cut calories (only) to 500 on protein drinks for a year and lost weight to only see it all rush back plus almost double...not from ice cream either. Weight watchers, I might as well call it Weight Gainers...ugh...I am an intelligent, tenacious woman and will not stop looking for a process until I find one that is healthy and produces real results...Can you please give me honest, advice on losing the fat...thank you.
Cheryl, Parks, Detroit, MI Age 42

Answer: The honest advice is that it is attitude and the need to buy and cook real food. All you’ve ever known your whole life as YOU say is that you’ve been fat. It’s very familiar to you. You have told me that you lost weight (not necessarily fat by the way) when you did protein drink diets and cut your calories way down. Well you lost too much muscle and that just happens to be your furnace that uses a fuel called fat. Going back to what I said about buying and cooking real food. No one these days ever cooks their own food it’s insane. Everyone that’s fat want someone else to do the work; Jenny Craig, Weight Watchers, etc. or they want the vitamin supplement companies to make a magical pill to help them burn fat. Give me a break! We need to get you to build muscle to a respectable level in order to help your body burn fat. Let’s start with gaining at least 5 lbs of muscle. If you gain 5lbs of muscle you will expend 350 calories doing absolutely nothing. If you do the math and know that 3500 calories equal a pound of fat then every ten days you could lose 1 lb. Divide 10 into 365days and just by adding 5lbs of muscle you will lose 36.5 pounds of body fat. Let me explain a little of your history to you. You’ve gone on so many diets which has created a yo-yo effect in your body and when you lose weight you also lose muscle along with it. When you lose that muscle the weight you gain back is almost always fat. I’m not in Detroit so I can’t do a body fat ratio test on you but if you can get one from a local fitness professional it will be very helpful to gauge your progress. Portion control is just as important as a training program. If you’re eating real food in the proper portions it is virtually impossible to gain weight. All your portions of concentrated food (meat, pasta, bread, nuts) and high water content food (vegetables & fruits) should not be larger than the top of your hand when you make a fist. Everyone is different and has different size hands and usually it is proportionate to the size of their body. So to sum this up: Gain Muscle, cook and eat real food, and use portion control. Do not go on any more diets and keep that tenacious attitude.

Why call it "Fat People are Stupid"... because its true.

Fitness Question: You could be a great help to people who are overweight and suffering, but I think you're the one who needs a bit of an attitude adjustment. "fatpeoplearestupid.com" ? Why name it that? Are you really under the impression that being fat has something to do with your powers of intellect? You are so full of yourself that nothing can penetrate that veneer of stupidity that surrounds your school of thought You mother must be really proud of you fucko :(
Irene Pearson, NY Age 27

Answer: I love when people who actually don’t know what the fuck they’re talking about write in without doing any research. It just shows how damn stupid you are. Stupid has nothing to do with intellect it has everything to do with attitude. Sweetheart, stupid is an attitude and in order to change anything in our life we need to first start the process of changing our attitude. My powers of intellect will never come into play when it comes to your attitude. Just a little side note; have you ever bought supplements because you thought they would help you lose weight? STUPID! Bought a Health Rider because you thought you would use it and didn’t? STUPID! Purchased a treadmill for a couple of grand just to watch everyone use it to hang their dry cleaning? STUPID! I can go on with the stupidity that surrounds my thought process but it would be pointless. When we stop feeling sorry for ourselves and develop an attitude that warrants us to be Americans and the Superpower that we are then and only then will I believe we are not stupid. Do you understand that 65% of us are fucking fat? Only 25 years ago 20% of us were considered fat and you don’t think there’s anything wrong with that. Sorry about your luck. To tell you the truth I don't care if my mother's proud because as long as I'm changing people's lives it shouldn't matter to her.

I couldn't have said it better myself ...

I don't think just fat people are stupid. Most of society has started blaming other people for their own problems. I think fat is a personal problem. Some people may truly have a genetic problem. Not every fat person and it makes me so mad that many fat people say it is not their fault. It is plain and simple. My child has a real disability. He is 8 years old and uses a wheel chair because his body cannot process food into energy like other people so he does not have the muscle capacity to walk. I have studied for a long time on how to get him to gain weight. I try to eat the same way. Not that I need to gain or lose wait. It is proper eating that makes your body do exactly what it needs to. Gaining, losing, or maintaining weight. Most people do not have the discipline to eat well. Not that we eat roots and seeds. We do not eat out all the time; we eat fruit, vegetables, chicken, hamburger, and many other things. We chose to eat differently. We use more organic foods. It is ! still as good. It is not that hard to eat healthy. I think the American disability acts association should not allow morbid obesity to be any kind of disability. It is there F*#$@$% fault. My son was born the way he is and it makes me so mad when I go to park in a handicapped parking spot and someone who is fat gets out of their car and takes that spot. Someone even worse off than my son could have really used that spot or there at least would be enough room for the people who really need those spaces not just fat people. Another thing is that when my son gets older he will not be able to work like everyone else and will really need Social security disability. Now can someone really say that it is o.k. to give someone a check because they have medical problems because they became to fat or give them a check because of real disability that they did not cause. I think it is wrong from a mother who has a son who is truly disabled and has to deal with these things everyday. And!
no, I am not a fat person. Yes, I know fat people. I see the way they eat and the way I eat. There is a difference that causes people to become larger. And, I know people who are on diets they are being lead wrong. Fat people should do their own research and find out what is out there and what they can do to really lose weight. You should eat breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, supper, and maybe another snack. All small meals and healthy choices in snacks not full of unhealthy fats and things. Look up the ingredients and what they are sometime and make your own healthy decisions on what you eat. Think for yourself once and a while and stop blaming others. Don't always depend on what others say. It's your choice, make it.
