Trainers, unless you have a degree... shut up.

I don't have a question - just wanted to give you a pat on the back about being a personal trainer and not a nutritionist. I am also a personal trainer and find that a lot of trainers do give nutritional advice that they should not be giving. I hear them talk all the time about diet and supplements and so often I just want to say something like "unless you have a degree in nutrition, I think you should keep your mouth shut" So, I just wanted to commend you on that.

I would tend to agree with the above comment, however; I find many trainers are out of shape and therefore should not be giving advice on anything health related. In my opinion, if a person is in great shape they do have a right to give their insights on nutrition, as long as they do not promote any macronutrient deficent diet (Low Carb, Dr. Bernstein). Good eating habits are commonsense, unfortunately most people seem to be lacking. On the topic of degrees, they dont mean much, having knowledge is one thing, being able to apply it is completely different; look at healthcare, most healthcare workers know that obesity is a state of disease, walk into an operating room and the vast majority of healthcare workers are obese.
